Out of beaten tracks safaris Tanzania
Which season, monsoon, rain, sun, temperatures ?
Web guide about beachs holidays and African safaris
Please remember that I am an African wildlife photographer and not a tour or ground operator. However my extensive experience in these regions enables me to advise you on the best tour and ground operators - those who live in the area, who will take care of you best and for the best prices.
Safaris are very expensive! This is why I recommend directly contacting local tour operators who live on site in Africa; they alone know the tours really well (they are at home).
The best option
Using my advice you choose a local tour operator, a professional (who speak and write English) who lives on site in Africa, a member of the association that monitors tours operators , i.e. TATO (Tanzania association of tour operators) for Tanzania and KATO (Kenya association of tour operators) for Kenya. These agencies that I recommend have vast safari experience, climbed Kilimanjaro, Masai etc. - sometimes for 30 years. Feel free to ask me about my ground operators !WHAT IS THE BEST PERIOD TO TRAVEL TO TANZANIA ?
Answer : have a look below and choose what you prefer about the color of Afrika
The coastal and island climate is hot, humid and sunny all year round, and at higher altitudes it is temperate (with cool nights). The coast and the islands have the monsoon and there the climate
is tropical (temperatures between 23°C and 33°C).
Weather in tanzania now, at the moment.
4/5 of all the country is on plateaux and
On the plateaux, the climate is hot (but not to much) and dry, with temperatures generally between 25°C and 30°C during the day year-round. During winter nights from July to September, the temperature
varies from 5°C to 15°C, and from 15°C to 25°C during summer nights (January to March).
Plan for the weather: light clothes (but suitable for safaris) plus woollen clothes for the evenings, or for inland at altitude.
Due to this climate, I favour December to the end of March, and mid-July to the end of October for visiting. Rainy season runs from April to June, and November has rainy spells.
Regarding game-viewing, I favour the following periods: 10th January to the end of March, it is summer and a lot of animals go to search water and 15th August to 30th October, for magnificent
landscapes and springtime with a lot af wild animals and also at the end of October, but pay attention game-viewers, as the grass is very long, just after the rain!.
